Carlisle,
Pennsylvania, the seat of Cumberland County, was
settled in 1751 and incorporated in 1782.
Dickinson College,
a liberal arts college chartered in 1783, just a few
days after the American Revolution ended with the treaty
of Paris as the first college the new United States
of America.
That doesn't even scratch the surface of the history
of the area. Much more can be explored through

from the square.
